I grew up on a farm in Missouri where life was mostly simple and uncomplicated. When I wasn't riding a horse, I was playing volleyball or basketball. If I wasn't riding a horse or playing a sport, I stayed busy annoying my two older brothers as much as possible. I graduated with honors from Saint Louis University in 1999 and the University of Kansas School of Law in 2002.
Go Jayhawks!
I married an Army service member and traveled around the country serving alongside him as a civilian attorney. It was a privilege drafting estate planning documents for other service members as they prepared for deployments, life events and retirement. I worked with many wonderful clients, attorneys, paralegals and administrators over the years, and I am grateful for their unwavering example of selfless service.
My father died in 2019 and his passing lead me to reflect on his life and legacy. He owned a small business and was well respected in our rural community. He dealt honestly with people, worked hard, lived with integrity, and remained committed to his faith and family. Even though he was a successful businessman, his true passion was spending time with us on the farm. He lived a full life, yet he understood the importance of finding joy in the small things and quiet moments.
It is my hope that I continue his legacy through this small business, and to be the example to my children that he was (and my mom still is) to me.
What does any of this have to do with my legal expertise?
Not much, but I think it's important to know a little about me and the "why" of what I do.
